I am posting this fresh from our first planning meeting for the 25th Anniversary Celebration of The Goonies. We have a ton of ideas and are getting our own work timeline fleshed out and we'll release more information as details are confirmed and arrangements made.
You can count on us providing the same activities as before (bus tours of movie locations, movie showings, a variety of fan gatherings) and we've got some new ideas up our sleeves.
We are envisioning the Goonies 25th Anniversary Celebration the weekend of June 4 - 7 (Friday to Monday to incorporate the original release date) to be a kickoff to a whole Summer of Movies in Astoria with plenty of other activities throughout the summer to keep any movie fan busy while visiting our scenic town.
Thank you to everyone that has posted their own ideas of what would make this event special to you. I glanced over them briefly before the meeting (as I wanted to make sure I had brainstormed everything I could think of first and not squelch my own creativity) and some of our thoughts were similar and other ideas you had were great additions to our session. If you have any more ideas keep on adding them to the 25th brainstorm post, I may not post here too often but I try to check in once a week or so to see what is going on.
Our first and biggest task for the anniversary event planning will be to outreach to the cast and crew and see how many we can interest in coming, if they are available, what their fees might be, etc. We appreciate those of you that have met cast members over the last year for planting the seed about the 25th anniversary for us - keep up the good work! We'll be busy over the next several months on identifying costs, strategizing schedules, etc. as I know many of you are probably wondering about ticket availability - I'll announce on here when that has been worked out. We'll also have a dedicated webpage of our own about the event.
I certainly had a blast with all you goonies in 2005 (and with everyone who has visited since) so I am looking forward to working with you all again and meeting some new folks!
Happy new year!

Too early to say, but I've reached out to most everyone on the cast and production team. Still seeking ways to get in touch with those I'm having trouble with.
Sounds like we should have an idea by fall of which cast can attend.

Thats awesome news, Regina.
Thanks for all your efforts and appreciate you keeping us all in the loop
