Hello Everybody My Name is Chris and i love the goonies but i recently heard that there is an uncut version of the Movie is there anybody who knows where i can get it i will pay top dollar for it . please help this goonie fanatic
I saw a 'Bootleg' version of the goonies on ebay a couple of months ago,but with the release of the dvd and its chopped cut scenes it has probably made the bootleg harder to obtain. So does the original 1985 video have any cut scenes?
I once saw the uncut version on t.v., it had the octopus scene and every thing. It was really cool to watch! Saddly I haven't seen it since, but I've been lookin' for a copy for a while now. I'll keep you all posted if , when I find a copy. Remember, "Goonies never say die!"
I think I saw a partially uncut version when I was in Greece once, it had subtitles and everything but I remember thinking "hey I dont remember that" and so on..saying that it was late night and i'd had a few to drink but im pretty sure there were parts in it that arnt in the edited version.
I have an uncut version. They are floating around college dorm rooms. Well the uncut version I have just has the added scenes from the dvd put back into it. A friend of mine used Avid and some programs to create a dvd with the scenes put back into them, so it;' the exact same quality as the dvd. Don't know if that's what you meant by an uncut version, or if their is even more material avaiable.

Quite a fair bit of extra footage is missing from the DVD including:
- Several more clips of Data's inventions
- The Goonies oath scene (in the wishing well)
- The leeches scene (just before thabove in the well)
- Stef & Mouth on the plank together (stef offers to breathe for mouth under water)
- A police car crash
- Extra footage of Sloth and Chunk
- Rumoured alternative ending at Mickey's house
- Gorilla scene (Not sure about this at all they may have filmed just a couple of shots before it was scrapped)
- Couple of extra seconds in the stop and snack shop
Apparently the final cut was 7 hours long although I am pretty certain this is not seven hours of different chronological footage but probably a lot of re-takes and the like although I am convinced there must be a lot more missing scenes.
Hello Erin, Welcome to the board! There was a lot of the cut scenes in the original screening of the film back in 1985..there are 3 deleted scenes in the extras on the DVD but a lot of stuff they left out. Occasionally they play a more complete version on Disney channel although they cut the heck out of everything else due to the language etc.
Dazzza-Didn't they say the gorilla stuff was filmed? With Davi and Joey Pants playing the gorillas but it took up too much time or something? Another thing to check the commentary on I guess.
i bought a copy of the bootleft version off ebay that ulysses77 talked about. ive also got the region 1 real dvd. the bootleg one does have more footage of the snack shack, but the quality isn't very good. it seems like the dvd has been taken off a tv channel
I have a copy of the uncut version of The Goonies. Well, almost. It contains: the octopus scene, extra Sloth and chunk scenes, and the shop scene. I too would like to see the extra Data scene. I do know, however, who has a full uncut copy of it. But I know for a fact he won't part with it. Any idea who I'm talking about? It's none other than Erik (www.thegoonies.com). I remember him saying on the old version of his site (back in '98) that it was a copy of a copy of a copy. Once I e-mailed him asking if he could record it for me if I sent him a tape. I had no luck though. But that's okay.
It's one that I know I have seen, scraping my brains where though. I suspect it was in a old rental copy back in the days of VHS, although I cannot for the life of me think why it may have been lost over the years.
Another for the list is on the log. I think the extra footage is of two of the goonies slipping before/after the old slick shoes.

I'm not sure if this is from the alternate ending or if this is just a candid shot but i'll post anyway.

There was footage of Sloth and Chunk in the caves (I don't have pics for this) and also a scene where before Sloth and Chunk go down into the tunnels, they stop at the Fratelli's freezer for a brief feeding frenzy.
Part of the scene where Sloth devours a T-bone was cut.
This scene is mentioned in the book though. Here it is in Chunks words.
'So the chair smashes on the floor, and I stand up free as a bird. But before I can spit, Sloth grabs my hand and pulls me outta there, down the hall, and back into the first room.
'Nobody else is there, now, I figure they've gone down into the passage under the fireplace. Sloth runs to the freezer and opens it, and smiles at me kinda sheepish and devilish at the same time, and says, "T-bone." Then he pulls this frosted plastic bag out, and gets this thick T-bone steak outta the bag, and it's frozen solid, man, it's like granite, but he don't care, he takes this huge bite out of it and starts crunchin' away like it was a Dorito or somethin'.
'Then he holds it out to me, like he's offering me a bite. I'm real polite, though, I figure he's not the kinda guy you wanna insult. "Ah, no," I say, real smiley, "you keep it. I like mine not so crunchy."
'So he just shrugs, and finishes eating the thing, bones and all. Guy's got a lot to learn about manners. Anyway, I notice there's a phone on the table, so pick it up and dial the police.'
I hope that helps
