2010 - how's it shaping up for you? (Was 05/06/07/08/09)

Been to Astoria or one of the cast member attended showings of Goonies? Basically, anything another Goonies fan would be interested in, talk about it, we care.

Ok, so we're halfway through 2009 and so far I've achieved NONE of my goals or ticked anything off my 50 things to do before I die list, dammit. This has got to be officially one of my least productive years EVER!!!!!!!!!

Anyone got any exciting news to share/goals they want to achieve in the next 6 months? Wishing you all a happy remainder of 2009!!

That's not entirely true - I finished a course yesterday. I'll let you know later if I passed. LOL
That would be most good.

Hmm.... I haven't actually had a job yet this year. That's not good. It might be acceptable if I'd actually done something but London is the furthest I've been in 2009. My Dad's been talking about moving and doing the house up to sell it and all stuff like that. That would certainly kick me into doing something with my life but I guess I shouldn't be relying on other people to make life changing decisions for me.

Cool! What kind of car do you want? I really do not know a lot (if anything) about car types and such, but I know colors LOL. I want to get a Mini Cooper one day! Hope to save up for a used one. What is a G6?

And congrats again about the new job! Any good treats in your office's vending machines? LOL I spend way too much time at mine!

Yay, I got an A+ in my AutoCAD course. This is good, because AutoCAD is really super easy, but still - it's been a good number of years since I last got an A+ in anything.

So Whee!
That would be most good.

I've been going back and forth as to what I want...I've always wanted a VW Jetta...but then I seen somebody driving a Toyota Yaris, and I thought it was kinda nifty...

Only thing, I looked it up online, and I don't know if I like the speedometer in the middle rather than right in front, lol. All I know, I need something small....cause I'm small. And I can't stand parking something huge, lol.

And.....my work place doesn't have any vending machines....wah. Probably good they don't though...those things like to steal my money pincers:^0

And congrats Hooli!!! I didn't know you were going to school =D

Thanks! I'm not really going to school. A few months ago I decided my brain was sucking the life out of me, and I needed to learn something.

So I'm taking AutoCAD courses in the evenings, and deciding whether or not I want to do the entire drafting certificate.
That would be most good.

2009 is kind of a up and down for me.

Upside: Getting a house of our own, buying... not renting...

Downside: The job market, I am still working part time. They offered a full time position within the company I work now, but then I don't hear anything about it. Bummer, but what can you do? Maybe I'll hear about it in the review, even though my raise was already processed. Getting 478.40 dollars more per year if I was on a full time position. Now it'll amount to about half that.

Due to this money is going to be ubertight... If only I can score a full time position... please please please!

I have the earlier 2002 version of the Yaris GS. The speedo is very very nice it is projected into the display and appears to the viewer as if its at the same distance as you view ahead so you do not have to refocus your eyes.

Also you are seated higher up in the car giving a slightly better perspective of the road. Your legs feel comfortable and not cramped behind the wheel.

I get a good 42.8 mpg so its is more efficent with fuel.

Hey dudes and dudettes,

I just wanted to check in here. Decided a break was necessary so I could focus on other areas of my life which have dominated my thoughts over the past few months. If you didn't know already, I got the all-clear from the hospital and was told that basically I don't have cancer. I'm so, so relieved and happy! Provided nothing changes next Feb, I'm healthy and OK. Just thought you should know as I asked to have my thread removed from CC before, but wanted to thank those who were there for me during the whole ordeal. May - July have probably been the most stressful months I've ever been through. Am really glad to see the back of them.

Not much else new with me other than being thankful for my health, family and friends. This year just got better and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the year now. Going back to the States in a couple of months to make my annual Goonie pilgrimage to some of the folks here - can't wait. Can't wait to also entertain my Hoolibear when her and Fatty are over too. So, lots of things to look forward to.

Miss you all and wanted to say that I needed the break from here to de-stress as things got crazy for a while... but I'm over it now.

Thanks for listening, for being there and love and hugs and stuff.

Obviously we're all glad you're fine, and of course it was a hellish time for you as it would be for anyone having to go to hospital but I think it's disgusting that the NHS let you worry like that, causing more stress and allowing you to think that you could possibly have it.
They're supposed to drum into you that CIN is NOT the C word. Yes it could change for the worse if you left cells go untreated but you didn't and they shoud've made that clear to you right at the start. CIN is not cervical c***** and I am angry they let you freak out. Someone should've been there to talk through your concerns right at the beginning.
My friend had cervical cancer, not CIN, and died.

Even if you have CIN next Feb Andy please do not freak out. CIN1 can correct itself on its own and all the CIN levels can be dealt with, even severe cases. More women have abnormal smears now than ever. I have a few friends who have all had a type of CIN (including two who had to have laser treatment) and they are all fine now.

I am very pleased you are OK and now can put the worry behind you.

Thanks so much, Shaz. That really means a lot to me. I think part of the problem is fearing the worst right off the bat, the fact that they want you in and out quickly, and while it's so surreal at the time, you're not taking much of the info in. Plus, my mum wasn't in the room with the consultant on the first visit, so I didn't have the second pair of ears to remind me of what was said. I know he said it wasn't C, but it felt like it meant that the next stage could be if didn't have the treatment. It's just a really stressful thing to go through and I think I'd have gone nuts without my sister there to keep checking in on me. I didn't talk about it much to anyone else so just felt really stressed out, without explaining why. I *still* have that spasm you know about!!

There's a lady who I got chatting to online who is/was at the exact same level as me. Whilst I got the all-clear last week, she got the worst news this week and was told she does have C (low-levels of it, at present). I feel really bad for her. It's a horrible thing to go through and when I rang up for my results, cos I couldn't wait for the letter to arrive, the first thing the secretary told me was that it wasn't C and they'd got rid of the offending buggers. I don't know whether having so much access online makes it all worse, or whether because of the shock of it all, not having the right frame of mind to ask the right questions or take the information in that's being given to you. Probably both.

I'm still so sorry to hear of your friend who passed away. What a tragic thing to happen. I'm trying not to think about Feb till it rolls around!!! At least now I feel MUCH more in the know and understand that even if I have to have treatment again, or even more evasive treatment, it still doesn't mean C.

Sorry to hear you're having a horrid year. It's been a mess for a few people I know too.

Thanks, Angie and Max - sorry, I'm late replying to these posts!!! What you both said means a lot to me. Just keeping my fingers crossed that my follow up next year brings good news.

I just got back from visiting Goonies in the USA and had a brilliant time!! I wish I could see everyone but sadly couldn't squeeze everything I wanted to do in. I'm going to Japan this month too - can't wait!!! I have no doubt I will fall in love with the country - I just hope I don't get permanently lost there. Or maybe I'll want to and never come back... we'll see.

I EXCITE!

As was beautifully demonstrated by Charlie Boorman by stupidly putting his head in the toilet :D

Andy's beaten me to Japan. Maybe it's fate, she'll get lost out there and I'll have to go rescue her. Gaijin-man to the rescue!

@ Chris - I like random jets of water! Bring it on! :sloth:

@ Gaijin-man - I have NO doubt you'll be there soon. I'll be your test dummy and then I can tell you all the stupid stuff that made the Japanese curse the day I arrived. I will begin by going to a Karaoke bar wearing a tight top whilst singing 'My Humps'! So yes, you may need to rescue me! Breast-men height = future good times thumbup

GOODBYE and GOOD RIDDANCE TO 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 2010!!!
I hope you're a great one!

Regardless of whether it is or isn't a new decade, I'm celebrating it as if it is. I said goodbye to the 90s on Dec 31st '99 and I'm welcoming the next decade at the same point in time again, 10 years later.

Wishing you all health and happiness in all that you do this year!!! I can't believe we're finally in the midst of the 25th anniversary event - 5 years sure flew by quickly...

Thank you for keeping this thread going and contributing your own personal stories. Re-reading this all from the beginning serves as a reminder as to how much our lives have changed in 5 short years. Some freaking GREAT times and some horrible tough times for all it seems... thanks for being open and a part of this journey. Man, I couldn't stop laughing re-reading a few of the early posts - HILLARIOUS! :sloth:

So, I managed in the end to fulfill some goals last year - I completed the Universal Studios tri-fecta and visited them all. I rode the Back to the Future ride once more in Japan (hillarious in Japanese!) before it gets pulled down in 2011 - it's the last one standing as the US got rid of the others already. I visited Japan and it exceeded my expectations and I loved it. I also got to work with animals directly for one day as a zoo-keeper too. So, all in all, the latter part of the year wrapped up nicely for me.

Does anyone have anything cool coming up this year? I'm working on a couple of goals at the moment and if they pan out, I'll let you know here!! Also hoping to visit another foreign land this winter... still deciding where though. Perhaps South America next, we'll see.

Take care, you goonies!

Love, Andy xxx

That's most unnerving what>:^(

HOLY S-H-I-T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! chunkicon I STILL HAVEN'T FIGURED THINGS OUT AND I'M 31 NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re-reading my posts, especially, I'm always searching but never finding, it seems... reminds me of the song, "Searching" by China Black.

2008 was a royal suck-fest, with the exception of being taught to race by an F1 driver.

2009 was my practical year. I got lots of sensible things done that have improved my situation, but nothing emotional, with the exception of going snowboarding again.

Here's to hoping 2010 can be a little....nicer. Sunnier. More fun filled.
