I promised I'd do this...

Postby yourmomsfavoritepiece » Tue Jul 06, 2010 11:25 pm

Hey there, fellow Goonies... Forgive the long and sappy post, but I promised I'd actually start participating in the forum stuff, and this seemed like an appropriate first post.

It's been a month since the 25th anniversary, and despite my busy life, I've found my thoughts wandering time and time again to the many wonderful moments I shared with you. Alone, I traveled across the country to be there, to be part of the magic, to feel like a Goonie. Making this trip was something I'd always wanted to do since I was a child, after learning Astoria was a real place. I had no idea what to expect, but until the Meet and Greet on Saturday, I wandered aimlessly and just took in the sights at my own pace, awestruck by the beauty of Astoria and the mystique which seemed to permeate the air.

Then I met you guys, waiting in line(for what seemed like an eternity)in order to get a few awkward moments of shallow conversation with three actors from my favorite movie of all time. I don't recall exactly when I subtly injected myself into your conversation, or even what it was about at the time(probably Goonies), but I don't typically feel like I'm on the same wavelength with most people, but to me, it felt like we all clicked. Inviting me out to Cannon Beach for the bonfire was probably the best thing to happen to me all weekend. I've been on a lot of adventures and crazy trips, but that was definitely one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.

And overall, it was probably the best weekend of my life, which I owe to you guys. Particularly Bryan and Rosemary. You two took me in as one of your own and made it all happen for me. And as for Merk, Moe, Brannon, Rheiner, Damon, Shaz, and a bunch of others(whom I hope will not be offended that I didn't type out their names), you guys are a blast to hang out with and I look forward to the next time we bump into each other. You all became my friends and made my trip a memorable experience, one I hope we'll be able to repeat for many anniversaries to come. :)

Oh - I was the really tall guy with sunglasses. ;)

I am particularly offended, Ryan - especially as we had the pleasure of waiting in line together for 4 and a half hours at the Meet and Greet - I thought wed made a connection and all? :) Hey, Merk and I shared our first ever 'Pizza Schmizza' experience with you, Bryan and Rosemary and so that was kinda special and all! :)

Just kidding, man - It was a blast hanging out with you and sincerely looking forward to hanging out again at the next one - See you there! :)

I dont think I had the pleasure of meeting you, as I skipped the bonfire to get drunk at the Red House, but I hope to see you at every mini meet we can all make it to. As a newcomer myself, I was super nervous about meeting everyone. But it was easy to get along with everyone, as they all made us feel welcome. I miss my goonie friends tremendously, and love to see the pictures and videos everyone has posted.
see you at the next get-together! Cheers()

Yeah, I rock :chunk:

And we were talking about how the line-ride (Simpsons reference) wasn't going anywhere and that it sucked that being the first people in line to get in meant being the last to get autographs.

I also remember you failing at using my camera and thus not picture of Curt Hanson signing my poster on my back, which would have been rad. But I forgive you. I blame the education system in your country for your momentary brain-fart.

I was trying to meet as many board members as possible, but some of you slipped through the cracks. In all fairness, none of you tried hunting me down and I was easy to find.

Oh my god, Bryan. I still feel bad about that. :P

I felt a bit like Data's dad when he tried to take the big group photo, but it would've been a little strange seeing a roll of film popping out of a digital camera. If it eases the sting at all, the image of you getting the poster signed on your back will be forever etched in my mind. ;)

And no, Buhnessa, I don't think I met you. I did meet a million other Goonies though, but you probably would've remembered me for reasons that the other guys here would be aware of.

Merk, I only got like two seconds and one spoken line in all of your videos. My vain and arrogant nature is telling me to excommunicate you, but I think you're awesome anyway. :P

And Guiseppe, is Pizza Schmizza really something you wanna remember? I know I wasn't terribly impressed... though I did leave my "schwings" there. :( And I would've mentioned you in my original post, but I didn't wanna butcher your name. ;)

Shaz, it was great hanging out with you and the guys from The Goonies Vacation. I don't know if you saw this, but I enjoyed watching them spit vodka into the bonfire. Hell of a time, despite the 911 call later.

Yeeeaaaah, this is what happens when you don't look at replies for a month and have to reply to everyone in one post.

Bah, that's what multi-quotes are for. At the next one, I think I'm definitely going to have to stay in a house. The pizza there sucks. Maybe it's the humidity, but pizza should never taste that horrible. Also, I have mad kitchen skills. Besides, I wish I could have stayed longer at the bonfires and get more goony time in. I didn't even get to grope everyone inappropriately. :( But I guess why there's that popular saying, there's always next time. Also, I think we need to kidnap Gina next time and drag her out to one of the campfires. Poor gal spends so much time working I don't think she gets to enjoy the fun parts... like being molested by me.

I did try to tell you that hotels were for losers. Now you will realise that I am even more knowledgable than you.

I was thinking the same about Gina. It wasn't practical at the 25th, but at a random weekend she should be able to join us.

Yes....you HAVE to experience staying with the group Bryan!! You miss out on a lot when you don't >_< Because I too, ended up in hotels for most of my stay, LOL! More for convenience because of the event. But next time....I'd love to spend more time with everyone =)

Yeah, apparently. We're like that movie two-pack where the only way you can buy the movie you wanted was by buying it with one that no one wants or would ever buy separately. I'll let you decide which is which. whistle()

That's ok Red, I can wait the 30 seconds...
Besides, Ang is going to help me make pancakes. ;)

And staying in the hotel for my first visit made a lot more sense as we wanted to do all the Goony stuff around town that most of the group had already done, so it was just far more practical. But now that we have that out of our systems, spending more time with the group next time is a priority. Besides, we had a jacuzzi tub in our room, did yours? No, it did not. Way to fail.
